Prince Harry has placed doubt over whether he would attend his grandmother’s Platinum Jubilee celebrations in London in June amid the ongoing security row with the UK’s Home Office.
When the Today show’s Hoda Kotb asked Harry directly if he would come to the Jubilee he was hesitant.
“I don’t know yet,” he said in the interview that aired on NBC this morning. “There’s lots of things: security issues and everything else. So this is what I’m trying to do, trying to make it possible that, you know, I can get my kids to meet her.”
Harry and Meghan visited the almost 96-year-old British monarch last week, as they stopped by Windsor on their way to the Netherlands for the Invictus Games.
The Telegraph reported that Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have been invited to stand on the Buckingham Palace balcony during the Queen’s Jubilee celebrations later this summer, but that they will have no “formal role” in the event.
If the Duke and Duchess of Sussex opt to travel to London to join their family in celebrating the Queen’s 70 years on the throne, they will appear at family events, which include the traditional balcony appearance, as well as a service of thanksgiving at St Paul’s Cathedral,.
But it’s unclear if Harry, Meghan, and their children will travel to the UK for the event. It seems as the Queen won’t be able to love her beloved great-grandchildren Archie and Lilibet on her Jubilee.
